MARCH 1909
TRIBUTE TO FAITHFUL ORGANIST
There has passed away Edwin Chittenden, who had reached the age of 67. He was a sincere and sound churchman and had filled the post of organist at All Saints' Church, Tudeley, for nine years, fulfilling his duties at the organ as recently as Qulnquagesima Sunday (the Sunday before the beginning of Lent).
Presenting the morning service on Sunday last, the Vicar, the Rev. G. Lachlan, dwelt upon the words: "In the midst of life we are in death. Of whom may we seek for succour, but of Thee, O Lord?"
He recalled and paid tribute to the interest and energy that Mr. Chittenden had always taken in his work.
During the whole of the time he had been organist, the Vicar declared him to have been a loyal servant. "His earthly work was completed and he has passed Into Paradise," he said. "He will be greatly missed, not only by his bereaved relatives, but by many who regularly worship at All Saints Church."
