MICE DAMAGE CHURCH ORGAN

A concert of 18th and 19th century music at Tudeley Church on Saturday raised £26 (£350 today) towards St Thomas a Becket church's organ appeal.

A target of £375 (£5,300) has been set to meet the cost of damage caused by mice who took up residence in the organ last year.

About 80 people attended the concert given by the wind ensemble of the Tonbridge Philharmonic Society, led by Mr Douglas Gibbs.

A colony of mice invaded the organ when wall paintings inside the church were restored. They ate the leather working parts as well as causing other major damage to the instrument.
